Koichi Nezu, director of the famous "Nezu Museum" in Japan, bought Takuma Tanaka's work privately

Last month in October, the director of the Nezu Museum privately purchased a work by Takuma Tanaka

The Nezu Museum is a wonderful art museum with a lush garden just a few streets away from Omotesando Station in Tokyo.

The architecture was designed by Kengo Kuma, one of Japan's leading architects. The museum houses 7,600 works of art, including 7 national treasures and 77 important cultural properties.

The museum is famous for preserving and exhibiting the collection of Japanese and Oriental antiques collected by Kaichiro Nezu (1860-1940), a businessman who served as president of Tobu Railroad Co.

Today, Mr. Koichi Nezu, the third generation and current director of the Nezu Museum, visited us and spoke with us in the studio.

Among the many topics we discussed were Takuma Tanaka's "Human Sushi," "CAPITALISM," and "Cat Rabbit”.

We hope that we were able to convey to you how Tanaka got started in art and what he is currently thinking about.

Takuma Tanaka’s new work, "Ice Cream Series".

We were surprised that Mr. Nezu liked it so much that he purchased it for his own private use.

We are very honored to have someone with so much experience in the art field.

at Peninsula Hotel New York

Takuma Tanaka went to the bar at the Peninsula Hotel and was painting when one person approached him and asked, "What are you doing? Takuma Tanaka explained, "I am a Japanese painter and now I am working in New York”. Then Takuma Tanaka presented the painting to he and his wife, so they were very pleased. They treated to some drinks in exchange for the gift of the painting.

Now on NYC!

Hello. I am Sekine, a staff member.

I'm here in NYC with Tanaka!

We just arrived the night before last, but we had a lot of harvest right away.

We are working here at SOHO HOUSE, which is a members-only organisation.

The response has been very good.

During the day, the sun was shining and I took a walk around the Guggenheim Museum and Square Park.

The various scenes that I saw gave me new ideas.

The economic situation and prices are different from those in Japan, but the people on the streets seem to be in good spirits.

You can also see some of our activities abroad on Youtube ✨.

Takuma's studio on this week.

Hello.

This is Ogawa, a member of our staff.

The fragrance of Kinmokusei(Fragrant Olive) is healing me again these days.

A couple of weeks ago, I was disappointed that the fragrance of Kinmokuri was fading and I thought it was the end, but now I could smell the fragrance of Kinmokusei again in many places ✨

This year has been warm and cold, so I wonder if the time of year has shifted from place to place ✨

I love the fragrance of Kinmokusei, so I'm glad to feel it longer this year 🥰

Here's a look at what's going on in the studio this week❣️

The cat rabbit has a breast on it.

I think I've never seen this before.

This is a human sushi, but with a face drawn on it.

It's like a skull, but he has a face... just by having the face drawn on it, it makes realistic.

Here's a scene of the work in progress✨

A powerful piece of artwork has been completed❣️

The two pieces together look like ‘Niou statues’ and it will help warding off evil ✨

This is a custom-made.

‘Ice Cream Series’ has recently been popular. The director of the Nezu Museum(one of the most famous private museum in Tokyo) and another overseas visitor bough this series✨

This one is a gift. Thank you for all your support 😊❣️

‘Takuma Tanaka personal exhibition for autumn 2022’ has ended on the 15th October, but we are always looking forward to seeing you at Takuma Tanaka Studio in Tokyo♥︎

Please note that Takuma Tanaka will only be able to see you until end of October due to his trip to New York♪

Living with Pictures, Relaxation

Here are some examples of how customers who have actually purchased the artworks are using them to decorate their homes.

Mr. Y, Setagaya-ku, Tokyo, 50s

The customer has a real estate office in his house, and he decorated the space from the entrance to the office on the first floor.

The following items were displayed in the space from the entrance to the office on the first floor.

Blue Rose (left), a print work

A traveling rabbit (right), a custom-made work

Two pieces.

The black of the traveling rabbit and the black of the staircase going up to the second floor match each other beautifully.

Incidentally, the custom-made work is a portrait of Takuma Tanaka, who has always traveled together with a stuffed rabbit like a family member in Turkey, a memorable place for Mr. Y's hobby of traveling abroad.

While his overseas trips have been far away due to COVID-19, he seems to recall his favorite time by looking at the painting.

Many of the people who purchase art at Takuma Tanaka Studio are financially comfortable. Some may spend their money on brand-name goods or luxury cars, but I think that many of them spend their money with an emphasis on inner richness rather than outer assertiveness.

We are exposed to a lot of information in our uncertain daily lives, which can unknowingly wear on our nerves, but I feel that it is very important to have time to feel at ease with who we are through items that regularly bring us back to our "self-love.

Takuma Tanaka
Takuma Tanaka's Beginnings and Works

Here is an introduction to Takuma Tanaka's life as an artist.

Takuma Tanaka did not start making art at an early age. He was just an ordinary student, but when he was in his 20s, he had a mental breakdown. As part of his treatment, he discovered art. He started art as a way to vent his frustrations, but eventually he began taking painting classes and discovered the appeal of art.

One year later, I was hooked on art.

Takuma Tanaka, who had become so absorbed in art that he began to create his own works, started selling his paintings on the street, not knowing where he was going or what he was doing.

On the first day of the street sale, he packed 10 paintings in a bag and lined them up on the street. Within half a day, he had only three paintings left. Takuma was shocked at the rapid sales, even though he had only been doing art for a year, and went home to paint even more pictures.

Through these street sales, Takuma has interacted with many people and has come to feel that human connection is something of value that cannot be replaced by money.

One of Takuma Tanaka's works is a portrait using digital art, and it is a work that utilizes the sensitivity he has gained through communication with the many people he has met.

After-sales service at Takuma Tanaka Studio

Takuma Tanaka Studio provides various services so that customers who purchase art can enjoy their art life with peace of mind.

One of them has a strong entertainment element, and there is an icing cookie gift from Takuma Tanaka Art.

It was quite big and I was happy to eat and respond to the volume.
